We saw St. Nicolas (and le Pére Fouettard) last Friday. St. Nicolas comes on December 6 to give presents to children that are good, and Pére Fouettard gives coals and whips children that are bad! Luckily my kids got presents this year.

Mom's visit
I know I know I've been lazy with the pictures....
Mom came to visit us for 2 weeks, and we got extremely lucky with the weather! So we were able to get out of the house for most of the visit. Saw some things we've seen before, and also some new stuff.
We ended up at a lot of parks, the lake a couple of times. Did the train ride through the vineyards. And went to Gruyere town, castle and the cheese museum.

Another day out
Before I post these pictures, I need to explain my daily barriers to becoming "swiss". I learned this week, after multiple attempts at translations, that children here are required to cover their notebooks from school. All the notebooks are provided by the school, and the its the parent's job to cover these flimsy notebooks (I have no idea how many, but apparently its a lot). I'm assuming its to cover them like we would cover hardback books from school. So I bought paper from the store, ready to cover these notebooks, and the next day, there is an article in the newspaper, that the state of Vaud, no longer requires children to cover these notebooks. So now I have nice skull and crossbones paper to wrap birthday presents!
Anyway, being the end of August in Switzerland, its not warm enough to go to the pool, so we all went to the park.

End of summer
School starts in 1 week !!! Luckily the weather has been good enough to get to the pool at least twice a week. Vincent can swim by himself, he actually jumped into the diving pool today for the first time.
Hopefully next year I can get some more pictures, the last pool went went to had some really cool slides for Vincent.
